These etchings are made with metal plates coated with a UV sensitive polymer. A mezzotint screen composed of tiny computer generated dots is placed over the plate and exposed, producing small peaks (hardened by UV) and valleys (unexposed areas that wash away in water) that retain ink.The plate is then xposed to sunlight (or other UV source), hardening the polymer and producing white areas.. The plate is inked and wiped, leaving ink below the surface (intaglio) in the washed away areas, and printed on an etching press.
